At Darwin High School there are a number of clubs, committees and groups that run at lunch time or after school.
Darwin High School Leadership Group has undergone a restructure in 2012. The three different year levels groups have combined. The leaders within the group have been given specific roles and responsibilities. Members of the group include: Carla Da Silva Madeira, Crystal Huang, Arshiki Perera, Danae Reid, Daniel Hamilton, Eva Yang, Jake Lucero, Rhys Batty, Samantha Ramsey, Saurav Kundu and Sami Harper.
If any students are interested in joining the Leadership Group, speak to the Year Level Coordinators or the School Counsellors.
The Christian Discussion Group is an optional lunchtime group open to all students. The group is an open forum for students to ask questions, express their points of view and find out what the Bible says. The leaders refer the students to what is said in the Bible about the issue being discussed, and also to relevant history and geography related to the material in the Bible.
The group also financially supports a child in a developing nation through the organisation Compassion. Letters are exchanged between the students and the child sponsored engendering significant identification and relationship over time.
The multicultural nature of the group allows students from any social and religious group to participate and make valid contributions thus keeping the group inter-active and respectful of others ‘religious’ journeys.
At present the group is convened by Rosie Reimers and Reverend Bruce Chapman from the Anglican church.
Every Tuesday lunch time, students from all year levels enjoy a game of Indoor Hockey. We have students from all the major hockey clubs represented as well as novices. All students are welcome.
Badminton runs every Friday at lunch time in the tank.
