Principal's Message

Welcome to the Darwin High School website. As you read through the pages of this site, you will learn about our wonderful students, our School, and get a feel for the vibrancy and strength of our wider Darwin High School community.

Darwin High School is one of the leading providers of senior secondary education in the Northern Territory. We aim to give every student in our care the very best possible education in order to prepare them for life beyond school. We are a ‘Learning Community’ which encourages staff, students, past students and parents to involve themselves fully in all aspects of school life and to identify themselves with its core values of Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Cooperation and Achievement. Our school is large enough to provide a broad and differentiated curriculum that caters for varied interests and abilities.

Darwin High School has a very strong and supportive School Council that ensures that the school continues to excel in everything we do. Additionally, we have structured our management team so that every year level has an Assistant Principal, Year Coordinator and Careers Practitioner to case manage every individual student and assist them in their journey throughout their senior secondary schooling life and beyond.

Our educational program is wide and varied and our record of success in the Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training (NTCET) results is outstanding. Students find they can pursue their interests and strengths to the best of their ability, and are encouraged to achieve their personal best. We are proud of our record and of our success in helping students achieve their dreams once they leave school.

At the same time, our vision of education extends far beyond the classroom. We encourage our students to involve themselves in the broad co-curricular program. Learning here takes place in many shapes and forms. Students have the opportunity to participate fully on the sporting field, on the stage, in leadership activities, Vocational Education and Training courses and on the Debating platform.

We expect high standards in all that we do at Darwin High School. We encourage our students to aim high in their studies, to work hard and to be sensitive to the rights and needs of others.
